Advanced Level Hockey in DC changes

If you're an advanced level hockey player, there are changes in the landscape that may affecrt you.

There have been changes in the makeup of Junior hockey and AAA midget level hockey in the DC Area.

First, the Washington Junior Nationals (Tier III-A Junior hockey) has been sold and will relocate to The Gardens, Ice House in Laurel, MD.  The Junior Nationals will focus their recruitment efforts on post HS athletes and will accept billeted athletes.

The Washington Junior Capital (Tier III-B Junior hockey) is now a dormant franchise.

The Washington Little Capitals and Team Maryland will combine to form 16U and 18U AAA teams.

These consolidations will enable the organizations to focus their efforts on developing the best players that are in our area without the dilution in talent that we've seen in the past.

If you look at this list, from the American Hockey Coaches Associaton, you can see that players from this area face long odds in making the NCAA level.  If you have the desire, the grades, and the ability to play at those levels, then tryouts are coming..
